Viewport Navigation
The viewport is the main visual area in EmoteLab where your character model is displayed. It provides a real-time view of your character as you make customizations, apply animations, and adjust settings. The viewport allows you to zoom, pan, rotate, and reset the view to examine your character from any angle and distance.

Mouse Controls
Mouse controls provide the most intuitive and responsive way to navigate the viewport. All mouse controls work directly in the viewport area—simply move your mouse over the viewport and use the controls described below.
Zooming
Control: Mouse Wheel
- Scroll up (away from you) to zoom in and see more detail
- Scroll down (toward you) to zoom out and see more of the character
Zoom behavior:
- The zoom centers on the point where your mouse cursor is positioned
- The zoom speed can be adjusted in Settings
- The zoom range is limited between 0.1x (very zoomed out) and 10x (very zoomed in). If you reach the zoom limits, further scrolling will have no effect
Rotating
Control: Alt + Mouse Wheel
- Hold the Alt key (either left or right Alt key works)
- While holding Alt, scroll the mouse wheel:
- Scroll up to rotate the camera clockwise
- Scroll down to rotate the camera counter-clockwise
Rotation behavior:
- The camera rotates around the point directly under your mouse cursor
- The rotation speed can be adjusted in Settings
Panning (Moving the View)
Control: Middle Mouse Button (Mouse Wheel Button) + Drag
- Press and hold the middle mouse button (the mouse wheel button)
- Drag the mouse in any direction while holding the button
- Release the button to stop panning
Panning behavior:
- The camera moves in the direction you drag
- The panning speed can be adjusted in Settings
Navigation Buttons

The navigation buttons appear on the left side of the viewport when you hover your mouse over the navigation button area. They are hidden by default.
To show the buttons:
- Simply move your mouse cursor over the viewport
- The navigation panel will slide in from the left side
- The buttons will remain visible as long as your mouse is over the viewport
To hide the buttons:
- Move your mouse cursor away from the viewport
- The navigation panel will slide out and hide
Fit/Reset Button
The Fit/Reset button automatically adjusts the camera so the character is properly positioned and scaled in the viewport.
- In most cases, it centers on the character’s face, rather than showing the full body, since emotes usually focus on the face. This behavior is expected.
- You can adjust how much padding is included around the model using the Model Bounds Scale setting.
Zoom In Button
The Zoom In button provides precise, incremental zoom control.
Zoom Out Button
The Zoom Out button provides precise, incremental zoom-out control.
Rotate Left Button
The Rotate Left button rotates the camera counter-clockwise by a fixed amount.
Rotate Right Button
The Rotate Right button rotates the camera clockwise by a fixed amount.
Troubleshooting
Can't See the Model
- Zoomed in too close: Try zooming out with the mouse wheel or the Fit/Reset button
- Model outside viewport: Click Fit/Reset to bring the model into view
- Model not loaded: Verify the model is actually loaded (check the Models list)
Model Appears Off-Center
- Model offset settings: Check the Model Offset Horizontal and Vertical settings in the Settings tab
- Asymmetrical model: Some models have designs that appear off-center even when properly fitted
